rely a bit too heavily on alcohol and irony

i'm kind of a compulsive shopper. in that i buy things without thinking. at all. i went grocery shopping the other day and saw that bananas were on sale, so i bought a bunch. of 18. i got home and was like, "seriously...what am i gonna do with 18 bananas?" i live alone and i had plans to leave the next day to spend some time with my friend in seoul. i ate about half of them that night and got kind of sick. i got back today (three days later) and they're still good, but they're on the verge of going mushy, and i HATE mushy bananas. dang. i love me some bananas, but i'm not really looking forward to eating 9 more of them.

so, like i said, i just got back from three days in seoul. with my friend angie and her cousin. we mostly just chilled at angie's house, doing girl stuff. she and her cousin gave me a makeover one day. and her mom was like, "she would look so cute with curly hair!" (or at least that's what i was told she said. angie's mother does not speak english, but she's a super funny lady.) so we went to a beauty parlor and i got a perm.

that's right, a perm.

it's just a bit of a wave, really. it's pretty cute, but dang my head itches. i'm not supposed to use shampoo for a couple days.

i met angie's brother for the first time, too. i had met her parents before, but never her brother. he's an odd one. he said i have a nice face but that i'm too fat. he was like, "you need to trim down here, here, here...and here." he said that if i lost weight, he would propose to me. i laughed, but then he went, "no, i'm serious." so i was just kind of like, "..." the funny part is he's fatter than i am.

but i've got that pending proposal going for me, so, you know, that's cool.

i'm going back to seoul tomorrow. to hang out with another friend. it would probably be easier to live in seoul, but i didn't think of that before paying for my dorm. plus i have a couple (illegal) jobs in town here. i'm an english teacher! on monday nights and sometimes saturday mornings. that's why i came back. gotta work tomorrow morning. plus i didn't bring many clean clothes with me.

remember my ramones cover band? well, sadly, they had to break up. scott is moving back to canada and anton is moving to seoul, so no more band. they had their LAST SHOW EVER a couple weekends ago, in seoul. it was in a bar i'd never been to, but scott gave me directions. and they were quite easy to follow. especially the part about the street on the hill that rises at the angle of an erect penis. found that right away. and it was a really good show. but kind of depressing cuz it was the last. i didn't even get up and dance. but that was also because clint was filming and i didn't really want there to be a video of me drunkenly jumping around to ramones songs.

we had a small after-party at anton's new apartment later in the night. drank a lot of bourbon. slept on the kitchen floor. things happened in between, but nothing i really want to talk about here.

i spent the next day hanging out with anton. i helped him do some unpacking (which means i just looked through his stuff) and we played scrabble (i won) and he showed me pictures of people he knows and we talked and stuff. it was a fun day. and he gave me a ride back here, since he has a car and everything. it was much nicer than riding the bus.

i'm gonna go try to stuff down a few more bananas. ugh.
