you know what's awesome? goodies from canada (thanks james)! even if they take, like, 2 months to get here. i guess candy from canada is suspicious? the package arrived all re-sealed with tape announcing it had been inspected by customs. i hope they did not steal any of my candy.

he included a nice valentine, too, featuring leroy the surfing bear. just in time for white day! (march 14th) it is a korean holiday (and i think also japanese) where boys give girls candy. i can't wait for black day (april 14th). it's when single people get to eat black noodles (jajangmyun) and they are delicious.

nobody gave me candy today. so sad.

i was in onam's last night (not surprising) and i got pretty much trashed. i just wanted to go out to dinner, but ALL the restaurants near campus were full, so we went to onam's for a before-dinner drink. usually i go with the long island iced teas (because onam makes them nice and strong), but i decided to try something new. so i picked this thing called a godfather, and it was pretty much a glass of vodka with a little bit of amaretto for flavor. i was like, "onam, you are awesome." then khalid was asking about this drink called a dr pepper, so onam started making it and khalid was like, "i didn't mean you had to make me one..." and onam was all, "no, it's for sara." and i was like, "yay!"

onam also knows when my birthday is. i happened to mention it, so he pulled out his little scheduler and wrote it down. i was like, "are you gonna throw me a party?" and he was all, "...maybe."

and this was all before eating dinner. by the time we got into the restaurant, i was pretty much gone. and of course we drank more with dinner (and then again after). i didn't even want to drink that night, but that is how these things happen in korea.

some dude from my campus at home is visiting. he works in the international office and interviewed me for the program. he showed up in my korean conversation class today, and i'm pretty sure i impressed him with my totally awesome language skills. yes!

there are a couple birthdays tonight. guess i'll be drinking again. no rest for the wicked or whatever.
